During my postdoctoral fellowship at Georgia Tech, I have taught courses based on a two-course sequence curriculum for freshman composition, which was ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102 . In addition, these courses were taught with a focus on rhetoric, critical thinking, processes, and modes and media through a model known as WOVEN (Written, Oral, Verbal, Electronic, and Nonverbal). Through WOVEN, students considered the rhetorical situation, and the best modes of communication in relation to that rhetorical situation, as they created multimodal artifacts that met an assignment’s criteria. While I built each of these courses around a theme centered on my dissertation research, I made sure that I met the learning objectives of the writing and communication program. Please take a look at my syllabi, schedules, and some assignments to see my curriculum development and course design!
