Accessible Schedule

For both years I have taught my 1101 course at Tech, I have used a color-coded schedule. I use headings to create a table of contents and to allow students to go directly to particular weeks and days, but I also use color to help visualize the breakdown of content as well as break up the whiteness for screen readers. Additionally, I included direct links to readings on the schedule. For Fall of 2023, I decided to be consistent with providing links for assignment submissions so that students were taken directly to the assignment submission on Canvas, the learning-management system.

My Fall 2022 syllabus is color-coded and uses headings, but there are not direct links to particular assignments that are all available on Canvas.

For Fall of 2022, I used color coding so that students could break up particular content on the schedule, but I had not started including direct links to assignment drop boxes on Canvas.

My Fall 2023 syllabus with color coding and the use of headings with direct links to every assignment, all of which are posted on Canvas.

For Fall of 2023, I continue to use color coding, but I am also sure to be consistent with adding direct links to assignment drop boxes on Canvas so that students are able to access a schedule and assignments in two different locations.
